ET15 Assignment 03 GAMEPLAY - LEVELS, OBJECTIVES & MAP

1)-  where/when- location?
Alcatraz prison, June 1962

2)- Objective- what do you have to do?
Escape prison

3)-Items-  what new items or skills can you gain?
Keys, club, pepper spray, knife/shank, pistol, shotgun, rifle, food, water, bandages.

4)- Obstacles- can be actual characters or even elements of the environment itself
Locked doors/cell door, guards, trustees/other inmates, environment/darkness/lights.

5)-  Actions- What do you actually get to do in this level?
Break out of cell, kill guards, kill inmates, open gates, descend/ascend stairs, use stealth.

6)- End Goal- What is the end goal of each level? what do
    you have to do to reach  the end of the level and move on to the next?
The player must successfully navigate each tier of the prison, avoiding/killing guards and loyal prisoners. Finally they will need to reach a boat waiting at the end of the dock.

I'm still very new and couldn't figure out how to put "lighting" into the scene.

ET15 ASSIGNMENT 01: Game Level Critique

Map: [Ground Strike] Grave Robbers Cliffs.

Mode: Arcade/Multiplayer

 

Grave Robbers cliffs is a new map to War-Thunder so I thought I would give it a “whirl”. While you may think that the map in an air combat game is irrelevant I assure you it is not. The cliffs, peaks, valleys, and terrain in general play a large part in the “air game”. Terrain can be an ally or your worst enemy. Pulling a Split S (half roll, and half loop, downwards towards the ground) while close to the ground will either have you pulling out just in time to see your opponent smack into the ground in a terrific fireball, or the ground may also be the last thing you see if your not careful. Either way, a good pilot will use the terrain to his advantage and this map has some interesting terrain. Large “pillars” of rock jutting up in inviting formations, as-well as plenty of cliffs and valleys to use to mask your approach. The detail in the trees and structures on the ground is impressive to say the least. Gameplay on this map is pretty straight forward, Red team starts on one side Blue on the other, with the objective to destroy the enemy's ground targets and air power. Every “kill” ticks off the other teams “health bar” at the top of the screen. In addition each team has an airfield (strip on map) and three support bases (shield icons on map) which can be destroyed. When all bases are destroyed the ticker will slowly deplete. So there are multiple ways to win, either destroy all land units (tanks pillboxes armored cars and AAA), destroy the enemy bases, or destroy all the opposing teams planes (destroy all planes for every player). Or even a combination of them, like Taking out half of your opponents ground units then taking out their bases and letting the remaining "bar" tick down while you play defense. In the end the first team to lose all its "tickets" or "bar" will lose no matter what it took to get there. Since War Thunder is still in Beta, all its features are not yet active, like ground combat (video posted showing ground combat in War Thunder). Right now the AI controls all ground units but in the future players will be driving the tanks, and even the war-ships on ocean maps like those in the Pacific Theater. Which is why you see so much detail in the maps on this game. If it were "just an air game" this level of detail would not be necessary. It's really quite impressive when you think about it... Ground forces and air forces...together...on the same maps...In multiplayer...Yeah, can't believe this hasn't been done before either but its true, at least not in this level of scope and detail. In the "Tanks" video I posted about the ground combat, the capture artist talks about how impressive the details are and even refers to it as "Skyrim with Tanks".

Here is some footage of ground forces in War Thunder captured from the live stream event where Gaijin showcased the tank gameplay....This is not one of my video's and this is not Grave Robbers Cliffs but it does show the detail up close of these maps, and gives "perspective" for the sheer size and scope of the levels/maps in War Thunder.
